Sage herb 'can boost memory'

Wicked - I must remember this!

Toothfish 'pirates' held after chase

Excellent news - I didn't even know what a toothfish was until a few days ago. The world really is messed up - what with this year's fishing quotas in the UK meaning that fishermen have to throw back tonnes of dead Monkfish back into the sea just to rot. We really don't know how to manage the environment. Apparently, the scientists say that this year the breeding cod stock in the North sea is close to collapse again, and yet the fishermen say that there is loads of cod. What's the answer? Should we all become vegetarian and farm seaweed? (I don't think so, I ate Lava Bread when in Wales earlier on this year - it wasn't pretty!)

Rob says that the massive catches may be related to hyper-aggregating: when there are small numbers of fish, they tend to bunch and therefore create large schools. These are obviously what the fishermen are finding (a large school is easy to find) and therefore gives them the impression that there are loads of fish. Doesn't sound like a good thing to me... the science of this must be pretty interesting - surely we are playing around with things a little too much - imagine the game of life but with a massive external influence. Anyway, here's the link...

ZX Spectrum Games and Emulation

We were talking about the games industry and Simon mentioned that he had a Spectrum Game called "Colin the Cleaner" - no-one has even heard of it... I wonder what it is like. Of course, these days, the emulators for little Z80A computers can run in a web-browser... awesome!
